To create Aviator Grand Touring, Lincoln added an advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain that creates a whole new driving experience. It's powerful and quiet from the start, with two additional driving modes that allow Clients to drive on pure electric-only or extend the electric range.

Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring powertrain facts:

  • The Twin-Turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine is paired with an electric motor to generate a substantial 494 horsepower and 630 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent through a standard all-wheel-drive system that delivers smooth, quiet acceleration
  • Up to 21 miles(2) of electric-only range can be possible from energy stored in the lithium-ion battery pack that sits below the cabin. The intelligent placement of the battery pack means that it doesn't intrude in the passenger or cargo space. The hybrid battery has been tested in extreme cold and heat to ensure it maintains its performance in all types of climate
  • Clients have multiple choices for Aviator Grand Touring charging. The vehicle is equipped with a dual-voltage charging cord, capable of both Level 1 and Level 2 charging. It can be plugged into a wall outlet with the supplied 120-/240-volt dual-voltage charging cord or at a charging station. A 240-volt home charging outlet needs to be installed by a licensed electrician

In fact, Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring doesn't have to be plugged in at all. It drives like a traditional hybrid when it is not charged. The gasoline engine automatically charges the battery. The Regenerative Braking System also helps charge the battery by recovering energy lost during braking and storing it in the battery for later use. There's no degradation in power or performance.

  • Aviator Grand Touring has five normal Drive Modes that use both gas and electric and two additional unique Lincoln EV Drive Modes - Pure EV for pure electric-only driving for shorter, city commutes or Preserve EV to extend the electric range
  • While delivering whisper-quiet performance, Aviator Grand Touring has an EPA-estimated total range of up to 460 miles

Plug-in Hybrid Technology Enhances Performance

Aviator Grand Touring is the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) from Lincoln. A powerful electric motor complements the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine to deliver impressive performance while maintaining a whisper-quiet cabin. Aviator Black Label Grand Touring1 is also offered for those who appreciate the utmost luxury and styling. Aviator Grand Touring features everything the gas-only Aviator offers, and more.

Key Aviator Grand Touring Features:

  • 494 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque2
  • Up to 460 miles total range
  • EPA-estimated EV range of up to 21 miles per charge (based on full charge)3
  • Standard All-Wheel Drive
  • Pure EV and Preserve EV Drive Modes
  • Dual-voltage charging cord

The Aviator Grand Touring drives on electric battery power, gasoline engine power or a combination of both.

In addition to plug-in charging, the Aviator Grand Touring features regenerative braking, which helps partially recharge the battery. The Regenerative Braking System captures kinetic energy from the vehicle's momentum that is normally lost during braking and turns that energy back into electricity, storing it in the vehicle's battery for later use. Even if you never charge the vehicle with the dual-voltage charging cord, regenerative braking allows the vehicle to drive like a traditional hybrid, seamlessly switching between gas and available electric power, without any impact on performance.

Aviator Grand Touring takes an effortless approach to creating the driving experience you want in any given scenario. By adding two new drive modes, engineered specifically for the Aviator Grand Touring, you can choose when and how to best utilize the electric power. Simply select your preferred drive mode and the vehicle will deliver.

Only runs on nearly silent electric power, without any noise from the gas engine, in most conditions when plug-in power is available. If more power is needed, a message will appear asking you if you want to switch out of this mode to use the gas engine either alone or in conjunction with EV mode. Pure EV mode is most efficient in stop-and-go city traffic or for short trips around town.

Preserve EV Mode

Saves plug-in power for a later time, while continuing to use both the engine and electric motor to deliver full hybrid performance. If the vehicle has not been charged, Preserve EV will use the engine to charge the battery and gain up to 75% of the total charge available. Highway driving is most efficient in Preserve EV mode.

Aviator Grand Touring features unique display screens that relate directly to EV operations. Screens include: EV Coach, Charge Setting, Power Flow, Electric Efficiency, and a Battery Charge screen.

  • EV Coach - shows you when you are using gas, electric or hybrid operation to power the vehicle. It also shows when you are recapturing battery power through regenerative braking.
  • Charge Settings - displays charge time, charging status, charge preferences, charge time on/off, and departure time.
  • Power Flow - this visual map shows where the vehicle is getting its power: from the gas engine, from the battery, or from regenerative braking.
  • Electric Efficiency - is your average driving distance per kWh of electricity used on your hybrid vehicle. The value is calculated only when your available electric range is being used and the gasoline engine is off.
  • Battery Charge - displays the state of charge for the Lithium-ion battery.

You can charge either via a Level 1 (120V) or a professionally-installed Level 2 (240V) outlet with the provided dual-voltage charging cord. An intuitive light ring on the charge port gives you the charge status at a glance.

  • Keep the vehicle plugged in when at home so your charge remains full. The more you use EV power, the less fuel you'll need, which means fewer trips to the gas station and better fuel efficiency.
  • Use the EV coach screen to help maximize regenerative braking. It's will help improve efficiency in both fuel economy and battery charging.
  • The Lincoln Way™ app is a fast and effective way to get all your vehicle's information at your fingertips. Use it to check battery status, set up charging times, find a public charging station, and more.

You easily can find public charging stations through the onboard navigation system or The Lincoln Way™ app on your smartphone.

charging times

Level 1 (120V) charging is approximately 10-11 hours for a full charge.

Level 2 (240V) charging, which requires a 240-volt outlet, is approximately 3-4 hours.
